Hair Transplant

Hair Transplant: A hair transplant is a procedure in which a plastic or dermatological surgeon moves hair to a bald area of the head.

Absolutely effective, hair transplants aim to restore hair growth to areas of the scalp with limited or absent growth.

Hair loss and thinning of hair are a normal part of aging, but they can also occur due to a medical condition or trauma to the scalp.

Pattern baldness is responsible for the majority of hair loss. This can be genetic however, it can also be due to a variety of other factors including stress, medical conditions, improper use of chemicals, etc.

Hair transplants typically occur in a medical setup under local anaesthesia.

During a hair transplant, a surgeon removes follicles from a dense area of hair, such as the back of the head, which they will refer to as the donor area. They then implant the follicles into tiny slits on the affected area of the scalp.

There are two main types of hair transplant:

FUSS: Follicular unit strip surgery

The surgeon will remove a strip of skin from the donor area and close the incision with stitches. They will then use a microscope to separate the donor skin into tiny follicular units that contain one or several hair follicles and insert these units into the desired area.

FUE:  Follicular unit extraction.

The surgeon will use a tiny punch tool to remove follicles from the donor area. Although this procedure will still lead to some scarring, it may be less noticeable, and the person will not usually require stitches.

Both techniques are effective and results will vary from person to person in regard to various factors. Our experts will suggest you a procedure after a detailed examination of your scalp condition.

Essentially there is a need for a healthy donor area for Hair transplants. In most cases the sides and back of the head can serve the purpose however, in the absence of a good donor area in the above areas, hair follicles can also be taken from the other parts of the body like the chest, chin, etc.

Ensure washing your hair clean with a mild shampoo before the procedure, and avoid the use of thinners and consumption of alcohol or smoking.

The first wash will be suggested only after two days of the procedure. Apply the prescribed oral medications on a timely basis. Do not exercise or engage in any strenuous activities for at least a couple of weeks after the procedure.

Results start showing from 4 months onwards till 6 to 9 to 12 months.
